I have a 2003 Legacy L Special Edition and am wondering if anyone can tell me if it would accomodate a WRX or STI engine if I were to switch out the current stock engine or do I need to look to a bolt-on system?

Yes, Subaru's are like Lego's.

Mechanically an EJ Subaru engine will bolt up in your car, you just need to splice in the electrical wiring harness.

Check out my swapped Legacy on cardomain.
