What are the general rules of compression VS boost in performance and power?


I have a 8000 RPM 2.5 litter V6 w/ 10:1 compression. 93Mazda MX6 KLZE FWD. I still have the stock interals that are 9.1:1 or I can get custom to go even lower.

I love this car! It ripps off the line, very responsive. The up and downshifting are a thrill (Alum Flywheel). So i want to keep the character that exists, just more of it.

Should (or could) I get a setup that is Fast spooling turbo with low boost and keep the 10:1 compression?

So I am going to keep the 10:1 compression and stick with 5-6psi.

Have an opinion on what size and type turbo to get? I want something that spools quick and puts out 6-10psi. Can anyone recommend a turbo for this application?

i have a 2.7 liter with a bds blower on top i need new pistons and cams any help ward4527@sbcglobal.net needs to handle 15lbs boost and 500 horse

Well depends on what you want. If you want to make power you're going to need to lower compression. You know you will eventually want more power(everybody does) so you might as well go with the lower compression and up the boost.
