I have a top mounted twin system on my 2002 corvette. I bought "new" turbos from a guy with a shop that does hot rod work and decided to go a different route for his engine. My question is: Is it possible to run any quantitative or qualitative tests on the turbochargers before I go through all the trouble of retuning my car and installing them? Is there a machine that can spin them or something to make sure they dont ruin my engine? They are brand new but I am unsure of the brand so I dont know if I can trust them.
Thank you

well there is a couple things you can look at. one see if there is any play in the bearings of the units. just grab the compressor wheel and move it around and see if there is play. there should be a little bit. like an eighth inch or so. but if its too loose you isk the bearings disinigrating and metal pieces flying into you engine. there should be a number or brand on the turbo itself. mine says T04E. yours could say someting like that or GARRET-T34. just tell me anything that it says on the side of it
